Safety Analytics

Continuing airworthiness and safety management in modern aircraft is increasingly dependent on the vast quantities of Aircraft Operational Data (AOD) that is generated from sensors and onboard systems. Operators depend on this data coupled with other information from the entire operational enterprise to create new opportunities to detect operational anomalies and emerging safety risks. Continuing safe operations requires monitoring aircraft behavior throughout its operational life and analyzing operational data across fleets to detect safety issues that may not have been foreseen earlier. Data needed for meaningful safety analytics is distributed across multiple airlines and jurisdictions since individual airline fleets typically do not generate sufficient data to identify rare events and hidden faults.

We are developing the consensus rules that will ensure that all relevant AOD could be shared with all subscribing to the rules. Please enter your email below to download an issue paper describing the use of analytics in safety management. This is also a request to join us in the IDCA to help write these rules.
